St Peter’s Preparatory and JHS Appeals for Support to Improve Learning Conditions

St Peter’s Preparatory and Junior High School at Seikwa in the Bono Region has appealed to businesses, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), philanthropists and other benevolent individuals to support the school in addressing its infrastructure and learning resource challenges.

The school, which is six years old, has contributed to improving access to quality education for children in Seikwa and surrounding communities.

However, the school continues to face challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, furniture, textbooks and computers, as well as limited resources to recruit professional teachers.

Speaking at the school’s second graduation ceremony, the proprietor, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Frimpong, said the school lacks the financial capacity to recruit enough qualified teachers, while the need to renovate the school building remains a major concern.

He said despite measures introduced by the school to improve teaching and learning, the shortage of essential educational materials continued to pose a challenge.

“Inadequate infrastructure, furniture, textbooks and the financial capacity to recruit professional teachers remain some of the critical challenges confronting the school,” he explained.

Rev. Fr. Frimpong therefore called on individuals and organisations willing to support education to come to the school’s aid, stressing that such assistance would help create a better learning environment for the pupils.

He also urged the graduating students to remain focused on their education and appreciate the sacrifices their parents and guardians make for their future.

“Everything your parents are doing is for your own good, so remain calm, obedient, humble and focused on your learning. Do not let anything hold you back because you are capable,” Rev. Fr. Frimpong advised.

The school proprietor also expressed appreciation to the parish priest, Pastoral Council, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), teaching and non-teaching staff for their dedication and commitment to the development of the school.

Meanwhile, the Headteacher of St Peter’s Preparatory and Junior High School, Mr Emmanuel Beryuo, also appealed for computers to enhance the school’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) programme.

According to him, access to computers is crucial for equipping students with relevant digital skills in an increasingly technology-driven world.

“We need computers to improve our skills in Information and Communication Technology because we are in a technological world,” he stated.

The school is therefore appealing for support in the form of infrastructure, furniture, textbooks, computers and other learning materials to enable it to provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
