A/R: Atwima Mponua DCE Tours Schools On ''My First Day At School'', Commissions KG Block No.3

The District Chief Executive of Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, has toured some selected schools in the district as part of activities marking “My First Day at School” to welcome and encourage newly enrolled pupils.

The DCE, who was accompanied by the District Director of Education and other officials from the District Assembly and the Education Directorate, visited several pre-schools and basic schools across the district to interact with the children, teachers and parents.

As part of the tour, Hon. Issahak donated assorted items including toffees, biscuits, drinks, school uniforms, school bags and learning materials to the new entrants to motivate them and make their first day at school memorable.

He also used the opportunity to commission a newly constructed KG block at Bayerebon No. 3 aimed at boosting education and ensuring that pupils study in a comfortable and conducive classroom environment, instead of learning under trees and in dilapidated structures.

Speaking during the tour, the DCE said it was truly heartwarming to see the excitement and joy on the faces of the newly enrolled children as they took their first steps into formal education.

“Alongside the District Director of Education, we visited some schools across my beloved Atwima Mponua District as part of the ‘My First Day in School’ programme. Hon. Ibrahim Issahak encouraged the children to stay in school, take their studies seriously and remain committed to learning, stressing that education remains one of the surest pathways to a brighter and more promising future.

He also urged parents, teachers and school authorities to continue providing the young learners with the encouragement, care and support they need to thrive academically and socially.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and realise their full potential. Let us all play our roles to ensure no child is left behind,” he added.

Hon. Ibrahim Issahak further appealed to teachers, School Management Committees (SMCs), and traditional leaders of Bayerebon No. 3 and other beneficiary communities to take good care of the school building and exhibit a strong habit of maintenance culture.

He lamented that government spends huge sums of money to put up such educational infrastructure, but lack of proper maintenance causes them to deteriorate quickly, affecting teaching and learning.

He assured that the Assembly, under his leadership, will continue to prioritize education by providing more classroom blocks, furniture, teaching and learning materials, and improving teacher motivation across the district.

On his part, the Atwima Mponua District Director of Education commended the DCE and the Assembly for their continuous support to education in the district and pledged that the directorate will ensure proper maintenance of the new KG block and effective use for its intended purpose.

He also encouraged parents to enroll all school-going age children and not keep them at home or on farms, noting that the government’s Free Basic Education policy is still in force.

Some parents and teachers who witnessed the exercise expressed gratitude to the DCE and the Assembly for the kind gesture and the new classroom block, which they said will go a long way to improve teaching and learning in the area.

The chiefs and people of Bayerebon No. 3 also thanked the Assembly for the project and promised to protect and maintain the facility for generations to come.
