GCBC defends CJ Paul Baffoe Bonnie

The Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference of Ghana (GCBC) has defended the Chief Justice (CJ), describing calls from certain quarters for his resignation as unmerited.

The CJ Paul Baffoe Bonnie came under serious public scrutiny following certain pronouncements he made during his visit to some public institutions.

However, the Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, the Catholic Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese and the President of the GCBC, condemned some his comments and asked the CJ to stay away from issues relating to partisan politics.

He told Ama Konadu on the Sunyani-based Sompa FM 'Adea Akyi Abia' morning show that those pronouncements of the CJ did not warrant his resignation.

Mt Rev Gyamfi said under no circumstances should the judiciary be involved in partisan politics, saying that doing so would not augur well for the nation.
