Force Ports, partner to empower 180 vulnerable girls in Sunyani Municipality

The Force Ports, an Abesim-based Non-Governmental Organisation in collaboration with K.V.M.O its German partners has rolled out several interventions to support 180 vulnerable in deprived communities in the Sunyani Municipality.

According to Mr Kingsley Kusi Appiah, the Assembly Member of the Abesim Ankobea Electoral Area and an official of the Force Ports, 180 identified vulnerable girls would be empowered to improve their hygiene.

In an interview with Sompa FM at Abesim, near Sunyani, Mr Appiah said the girls were selected from four communities in the municipality, saying that they would be provided with sanitary pads.

Besides, he added that the NGO and its German partners would provide the girls with learning and teaching materials as well as organised adolescent health outreach to sensitize them on reproductive healthcare education.

Mr Appiah said the NGO had also provided solar-powered boreholes to extend potable drinking water to some of the deprived communities including the Tanoanc community.


Mr Appiah advised families and teachers to guide the girls to make informed decisions in life.
Yawsae farmers cry over bad roads

Farmers at Yawsae and adjoining settlements in the Sunyani Municipality have called on the government to reshape the bad roads in the area.

According to them, reshaping of the deplorable conditions of roads in the area would facilitate their movements and economic activities towards transporting their crops to marketing centers in Sunyani.
