Education Ministry to review CSSPS after placement concerns

The Ministry of Education has announced plans to establish a Technical Working Committee to review the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) after the conclusion of the current placement exercise.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 15, the Ministry said the review will assess the various components of the placement process and identify areas requiring improvement. It said the exercise will seek to strengthen transparency and accountability within the system and make recommendations to improve the placement process.

The Ministry said the review is intended to ensure that the CSSPS remains credible, efficient, fair and responsive to the needs of students, parents and schools.

“The Ministry recognises the need for continuous improvement and strengthening of the system. Following the conclusion of the current placement exercise, the Ministry will establish a Technical Working Committee to undertake a comprehensive review of the placement process,” the statement said.

The announcement comes amid growing concerns over difficulties parents and students face during the placement process, including calls by the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference for greater transparency and accountability in the CSSPS.
