The Wamfie District Magistrate court in the Bono Region, presided over by His Worship Eugene Obeng Ntim has remanded into police custody three suspects and granted bail to one minor for mining without license.
The suspects are Moses Ayando 30, Joseph Akuwaaya 32 and John Akanboei 34 were remanded whilst Kwaku Atingani 16 was granted bail to the tune of GH50,000 Ghana Cedis with one surety. The suspects are to re-appear in court on November 4
This remand follows the arrest of the suspects on October 22 in an operation carried out by the Dormaa Paramount chief Anti-Galamsey Task Force at Akontanim, near Wamfie where the suspects were met engaging in illegal mining.
The Bono Regional Police Command, in a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah cautioned all persons engaging in illegal mining activities within the region to advise themselves or risk being arrested, investigated, and prosecuted.
