MTN Fest screens Sunyani residents for various health conditions

Hundreds of residents in the Sunyani Municipality were at the weekend screened for various health conditions, as part of activities to mark the 2026 Suncity fest, celebrated annually to build and strengthen the bond of peace in the Municipality.

MTN Ghana in collaboration with the Sunyani-based Suncity Group of Companies organised the free health screening exercise, benefiting more than 350 residents, mostly aged men and women.

They were screened for diabetes, hypertension, body mass index, HIV, breast cancer, hepatitis 'B' as well as throat, ear and nose and eye conditions.

Earlier, some of the beneficiaries joined hundreds of residents in a health walk which took the marchers through some principal streets of the Sunyani Township.

They later converged at the Sunyani Coronation Park for the health screening exercise, with many of them checking their blood pressure and sugar levels.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Madam Justina Takyiwaa, Health Promotion Officer at the Sunyani Municipal Directorate of Health who led a team of health specialists commended the impressive turnout of the exercise.

She noted that the surest way one could protect his or herself against non- communicable and other chronic diseases  was to do regular medical checkups.

Mr Kofi Owusu, the Bono Regional Manager of the MTN Ghana, said the company prioritized the general wellbeing of its cherished customers.

He advised Ghanaians to take issues concerning their personal health and wellbeing seriously by avoiding behaviours that undermined their health safety.
