Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach Abdul Karim Zito says the injury situation in the club’s attacking department is concerning but is relieved about striker Kwame Opoku’s impending return from injury.
The 26 year old has been out of action for over a month to an ankle injury suffered in Kotoko’s opening game win of the 2025-2026 Ghana Premier League season over Berekum Chelsea.
Kwame Opoku returned to training and could feature in the club’s league tie against Karela United on Sunday, November 2 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the Karela tie, Karim Zito spoke about the importance of having Kwame Opoku back in the fold.
“When you look at the injury situation, it goes with the attackers mostly with the attackers. That is why…I’m very happy Kwame [Opoku] is coming back to come and join those who are there” Zito said.

Opoku’s return comes at a time when Kotoko have sold striker Albert Amoah to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi. Ahead of the Karela United game, Kotoko have two wins and two draws in four games.
