The Central Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA), Mr. Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, has urged fashion designers to make effective use of the digital space to expand their brands.
He said this at the 2nd Conference of the association held in Cape Coast, on the theme: “Unlocking Opportunities in Fashion, the Impact of GNTDA in the Central Region.”
Mr. Abdul Rahman noted that in the current digital era, fashion designers must leverage social media and other online platforms to market their products, attract clients, and compete globally.
He also pleaded with government to help members access soft loans to acquire industrial machines to render more professional services and compete effectively on the international market.
The association’s Central Regional Vice Chairman, Mr. Ransford Ekow Nkansah, elaborated on the welcoming gesture extended to persons with disabilities, saying the association treats them specially and ensures that their disability does not become inability.
He further appealed to government to support the youth, especially the needy, to complete their apprenticeship terms, as many drop out due to financial constraints.
The Treasurer of the newly inaugurated Men’s Conference of the association, Mr. Kingsley Ackon, emphasized that males often do not prioritize apprenticeship, especially in fashion, due to peer influence and some community myths.
He encouraged males to venture into apprenticeship, especially fashion, since it is a good field to explore their talents for economic independence.
