Duayaw-Nkwanta finally gets new paramount chief, after years of dispute

A United Kingdom-based Ghanaian businessman has been enstooled as the Paramount Chief of the Duayaw-Nkwanta Traditional Area in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region under the stool name Nana Ntow Kooko II.

Known in private life as Mr Lawrence Ansu Gyeabour, the enstoolment of Nana Koko II, a royal of the Tetretem Gate ended a chieftaincy dispute which erupted following the demise of the late paramount chief of the area, Nana Boakye Tromo

Speaking at a colourful ceremony held at the Duayaw-Nwkanta palace, Opanin Ofori Adu, the spokesperson for the Tetretem Royal Family lauded the successful enstoolment of the chief.

He called on the people to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity to push the holistic development of the traditional area

Opanin Adu noted that peace and unity remained prerequisite for development, assuring that everybody would be carried on and to contribute to the development of the area.

Nana Binsre, the Chief Priest of Duayaw-Nkwanta Traditional Area, said that Tetretem Royal Family remained the rightful occupant of the Duayaw-Nkwanta traditional stool.

He called on the people to maintain the prevailing peace of the area, saying that peaceful co-existence and social cohesion remained essential towards promoting the development of the area.

After swearing an oath of allegiance, Nana Kooko II pledged to serve the people in diligence and in humility.
