"Show Active Interest In Ghana's Governance '' -Asanteman COKA Urges Religious Leaders To Hold Government Accountable

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), popularly known as COKA, has called on religious leaders across the country to take a more active and supervisory interest in national governance.

According to him, the governance of the nation should not be left solely in the hands of politicians, as the Church and other religious bodies have a critical role to play in ensuring accountability, transparency and good leadership.

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah made the call when he addressed congregants at the Regional Convention of the Precious New Truth Faith International Church held at Drobonso in the Sekyere Afram Plains District of the Ashanti Region.

The convention, which brought together hundreds of church members, clergy and NPP party faithful, was held under the theme of national renewal and spiritual empowerment.

Speaking at the event, Chairman COKA stressed that public oversight from spiritual leaders is essential to keeping political office holders accountable and responsive to the needs of the electorate. He noted that religious leaders command immense respect and influence in society and must use their platforms to speak truth to power.

According to him, political parties and government appointees should not be left unscrutinized when it comes to fulfilling their campaign promises.

"I respectfully challenge the Church and all religious leaders in this nation not to leave issues of governance solely to the ruling party. Your voice matters in shaping a just and accountable society," Chairman Odeneho stated.

He further charged religious leaders to demand accountability from the current administration, stating that every promise made to Ghanaians must be fulfilled.

"The NDC government owes it to the citizens of Ghana to deliver on every promise made, including legislative commitments such as outlawing LGBTQ+ activities from the country's statute books and addressing the economic hardships confronting the ordinary Ghanaian," he added.

Chairman COKA explained that Ghana's democracy thrives when there is collective participation, and the Church cannot afford to be neutral or silent in matters that affect the welfare of the people.

The NPP Regional Chairman also used the opportunity to appeal to the church leadership and congregation for continuous prayers for national political figures, party executives and the country as a whole.

He noted that carrying out political leadership with integrity, courage and fairness requires divine wisdom and direction, especially as political parties prepare to present their agendas to Ghanaians ahead of the 2028 general elections.

"On behalf of the party executives present today, we ask for prayers for the wisdom and fairness required to lead effectively. Leadership is not easy and we need God's guidance to make the right decisions for our people," COKA said.

He added, "It is through a shared unity of purpose, prayer and hard work that we can earn the trust of the electorate once again and return to power to continue our good works for Ghana."

In response, the General Overseer of the Precious New Truth Faith International Church, Prophet Kofi Agyei, commended Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah for his humility and recognition of the role of the Church in national development.

Prophet Agyei then led the congregation in a special and powerful prayer session for Chairman Odeneho, along with visiting regional and Sekyere Afram Plains constituency executives.

He asked for divine guidance, integrity, unity and cohesion for the leadership of the NPP as they navigate their organizational goals and reorganization efforts leading up to the 2028 electoral campaign.

The General Overseer also prayed for peace, stability and economic prosperity for Ghana, urging all Ghanaians to remain prayerful and patriotic.
