The Ghana Football Association has officially announced that Accra Hearts of Oak will host the remainder of their home matches in the 2025–26 Premier League season at the Accra Sports Stadium, following the temporary closure of the University of Ghana Sports Stadium for renovation works.
In an official statement, the GFA confirmed that the University of Ghana facility has been shut down to allow for essential redevelopment, prompting the Phobians’ return to their traditional home ground in the capital.
Hearts of Oak had initially started the season at the Accra Sports Stadium, playing five matches before relocating to the University of Ghana venue, where they went on to host seven fixtures.
The latest development now sees the club complete the campaign back at the iconic national stadium, a venue synonymous with their rich history.
The timing of the move is significant, coming at a crucial phase of the season with the Phobians still in strong contention for the league title. Currently fourth on the Premier League table, Hearts trail leaders Bibiani Gold Stars by six points, with eight matches remaining.
Under the leadership of head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, the club will play five of their final fixtures at the Accra Sports Stadium, while three matches will be played away from home.
The return to a familiar and historically significant venue is expected to provide a boost as they intensify their push for the top spot.
