We Are Poised To Reduce Drug Abuse In Cape Coast- Dr. Orleans-Lindsay

Chancellor of the Cape Coast Technical University and Chief Patron of the Cape Coast Youth Development Association, Dr. James Condua Orleans-Lindsay, has underscored the association's commitment to reducing drug abuse in Cape Coast.

He said this at a youth leadership, mentorship and colloquium program organized by the Association dubbed, “From Memory to Momentum: The Black Star Rising” held at Cape Coast in the Central Region.

Dr. Orleans-Lindsay called on parents, traditional leaders, teachers and all stakeholders to support the Association in its drive to safeguard the future of the youth.

The program brought together youth groups, students and stakeholders to deliberate on youth development and the way forward.

Speaking at the event, the General Secretary of the Cape Coast Youth Development Association, Mr. Josiah Spio-Garbrah, expressed worry over the alarming rate of drug abuse such as marijuana, inhalation of glue, tramadol and other illicit substances among the youth in Cape Coast.

He noted with concern that even children at early school-going age, such as kindergarten, now have knowledge of these drugs.

According to him, the Association is deeply moved by the situation and has taken a charge to engage the youth through series of sensitization, mentorship and educational programs aimed at curbing the menace.
