Residents using Sunyani-Abesim stretch ask gov't procure more intercity buses

Residents using the Sunyani-Abesim stretch have called on the government to reform the ntaions transport system by purchasing more inter-city buses.

They shared their frustrations about the emerging transport challenges in parts of the Sunyani Municipality due to rapid population growth.

In an interview with Sompa FM, the residents lamented that it was always difficult to access public transport, especially during Wednesdays, the main market days at the Nana Bosoma Central market in Sunyani.

Ms a resident of Abesim only known as Janet said visiting the Nana Bosoma Central Market, especially Wednesday was a nightmare, worrying that it was difficult to get public transport to return from Sunyani to Abesim.

She also expressed worry about the emerging vehicular traffic jam on the Sunyani- Abesim stretch and called on the city authorities to do something urgently and to address the problems.

A taxi driver also justified why the commercial drivers often fail to use the Sunyan-Abesim stretch, attributing the drivers' failure partly to the present lorry fares.
