GPRTU cautions drivers against unapproved fares

The Regional Vice Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Justice Kwame Frimpong, has raised concerns over the unauthorized increment of transport fares by some drivers.

Speaking on Sompa Fm Ade Akye Abia, morning show hosted by Ama Konadu Mr. Frimpong emphasized that while the Municipal Assembly has not officially sanctioned a fare hike, many drivers have taken it upon themselves to charge passengers higher rates. He said that any increment should be properly regulated and enforced through legal channels.

He highlighted the role of local task forces in addressing unauthorized operations and roadside pick ups, saying that a joint effort between the Assembly and the GPRTU is crucial for maintaining order across lorry stations.
