Concerned residents in the Sunyani Municipality have lauded the Bank of Ghana (BoG)'s efforts to protect the dignity and preserve the local currency.
They are asking the central bank to do more, intensify public education and ensure that the masses handled the Ghana cedi notes and coins properly.
In an interview with Sompa FM in Sunyani, Miss Grace Badu, a concerned resident at Abesim, near Sunyani suggested to the BoG to arrest anybody who mishandled the cedi.
She said the beauty of the Ghana cedi ought to be maintained and asked women and traders to desist from folding and defacing the cedi notes.
Madam Linda Anima, another resident at Abesim commended the BoG for its efforts to preserve the cedi.
Some concerned residents at Kyeredua, near Wawasua also expressed similar sentiments, and asked Ghanaians to respect and handle the cedi with care.
