Cocoa farmers can now order arrest of defaulting LBCs, PCs-Association

Nana Yaa Asantewaa, the Public Relations Officer of the Cocoa Farmers Association of Ghana, says the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has given the greenlight to demand payment from Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs) or Purchasing Clerks (PCs) who buy beans direct from their farm gates.

She told Ama Konadu on the Sunyani-based Sompa FM's "Adia Akyi Abia" morning show on Monday that according to the COCOBOD it had paid all the LBCs and PCs, saying that cocoa farmers could order the arrest of LBCs and PCs who failed to pay them.

Nana Asantewaa said that the COCOBOD had also assured the association of its readiness to ensure that the nation's cocoa producer price always corresponded to the world market price.
