Apprehended Flouters of Sanitation Day Will Never Go Unpunished — Cape Coast Mayor Vows

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. George Justice Arthur, has assured residents of the metropolis that persons apprehended for flouting the Assemblies sanitation exercise will never be scot-free but face the full consequences of the law.

The Mayor underscored that the Assembly would no longer tolerate deliberate disregard for sanitation directives, particularly by individuals and businesses that continue their activities during designated clean-up periods, much especially commercial tricycle (pragya) riders.

This follows an intensified efforts by the Cape Coast Mayor to enforce compliance with the clean-up exercise directives on Saturday, 29th August 2026, following a two-day sanitation exercise by the Mayor geared towards the highly celebrated Oguaa Fetu Afahye.

He stressed that enforcement of the sanitation regulations is necessary to restore discipline, improve public hygiene and protect the health of residents.

According to the Mayor, the Metropolitan Assembly would ensure that persons who were summoned within the two-day sanitation directives upon violation, will be dealt with appropriately to serve as deterrent to others.

He said enforcement would not be selective, stressing that traders, shop owners, pragya riders, residents and other individuals found culpable will all be treated in accordance with the sanitation law.

The Mayor maintained that the Assembly's objective is not to punish residents, but to ensure that everyone takes responsibility for keeping the metropolis clean.
