1,500 learners in Sunyani Municipality participate in Ogyeamansan free vacation classes

1,500 learners in the Sunyani Municipality are presently participating in the 'Ogyeamansan Free Vacation Classes', instituted by Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area.
The Paramount Chief, also the President of the Sunyani Traditional Council (STC) instituted the classes, held annually during long vacations for the students and pupils.
Underway at the St Patrick Primary and Junior High School in Sunyani, the Chief has also engaged 40 teachers to teach the learners from every first week of August between 0800 hours and 1300 hours until the resumption of every academic year.
These came to light when Nana Addae Kuntuma IV, the Nifahene (sub-chief) of the STC and the Supervisor of the Ogyeamansan Free Vacation Classes visited and assessed the progress of the vacation classes.
He lauded the comportment of the learners, explaining that the visit was to enable him to identify and address emerging challenges confronting the exercise, and commended the teachers for the dedication.
Mr Atta Akoto Senior, officer in-charge of Communication at the STC emphasised Odeefour Ogyeamansan Korkor Il's dedication to improve quality education in the traditional area, saying that plans were underway to provide free meals for the beneficiaries too.
