‎Minimize Pursuit for Money as Journalists to Explore Emerging Opportunities for Sustainable Future- Prof. Bamfo-Agyei Charges Media

Prof. Emmanuel Bamfo-Agyei, Dean of Graduate Studies at the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) and a veteran pressman, has charged journalists to move away from making money their primary motivation but instead explore emerging opportunities that can secure a sustainable future for themselves in future.

‎He said the rapidly changing media landscape demands that journalists broaden their horizons, acquire new skills and identify innovative ways of creating value addition rather than resorting solely on traditional sources of income.

‎Prof. Bamfo-Agyei made the call in an interview with Sompa TV's Eric Annan at the Cape Coast GNAT Hall during the book launch of 'Orange Friday' and 'Oguaa Bakatue' which are books authored by a practicing journalist in the Central Region, named Frank Kofi Assuman affectionately known in the media cycles as Asorba on Friday, 27th August, 2026.

‎He encouraged the media to rethink their approach to journalism and prepare themselves for emerging opportunities and changes in the media business.

‎According to Prof. Bamfo-Agyei, financial considerations are important in every profession, but journalists must be careful not to allow the pursuit of money to overshadow the core responsibilities of journalism.

‎

‎He urged practitioners to focus on building credibility, expertise and professional networks that could open doors to sustainable opportunities in the future. Adding that journalists who concentrate exclusively on immediate financial rewards risk overlooking opportunities for personal development and professional advancement.

‎Rather, he encouraged the media to invest in themselves by acquiring skills that would remain relevant as the industry evolves.

‎Author of the books, Mr. Frank Kofi Assuman asserted that culture and the environment are inseparable, as the current rate of environmental pollution threatens both heritage and future of the country.

‎He stressed the need for citizens to desist from activities that pollute the environment.

‎

‎He added that the books highlights indigenous cultural practices that inherently promotes environmental protection and sustainability, and urges the citizenries to revisit those values.
