Mr Pius Sampson Opoku, the Tano North Municipal Chief Executive in the Ahafo Region has appealed for stakeholder support to combat growing child labour and exploitation in the municipality.
He said child labour was very common in some cocoa growing and mining communities in the municipality, saying that the assembly required collective efforts to bring the situation under control.
Mr Opoku made the appeal when speaking at day’s forum to mark the 2026 celebration of the International Day Against the Child at Duayaw-Nkwanta on the theme: “Red card to child labour: Fair play for
children, decent work for adults.
The Municipal Assembly in collaboration with Nature Aid Ghana, a non-governmental organisation organised the forum, attended by mostly school children, chiefs and queens and farmers.
