The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has praised staff of the Parliamentary Service for their dedication and commitment, stating that they deserve national recognition for their contributions to the work of Parliament.
Speaking at the launch of Human Resource Week 2026 under the theme, “Empower People to Lead Change,” the Speaker noted that Ghana is living through a period of rapid transformation, making professionalism, discipline and commitment more important than ever in strengthening democratic institutions.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by the Second Deputy Speaker, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, Speaker Bagbin urged staff of the Parliamentary Service to use the celebration as an opportunity to reflect on their careers and personal development within the institution.
“Every great institution is recognised not merely for its physical structures, but by the quality, character and commitment of its workforce,” the Speaker stated.
He therefore encouraged staff to continue serving Parliament with dignity, professionalism and pride.
The Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, whose address was delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Clerk in charge of Legislative Management Services, Mr. Camillo Pwamang, emphasised the need for visionary leadership that nurtures talent, promotes innovation and creates opportunities for growth.
According to him, empowering people to lead change requires renewed collective commitment towards institutional development and workforce capacity building.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Human Resource Sub-Committee of the Parliamentary Service Board, Angela Oforiwaa Olorwu-Tay, Deputy Clerk for Corporate and Financial Management Services, Dr. Gloria Akua Sarku-Kumawu, and Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, who represented Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, commended the Human Resource Department for organising the programme.
They noted that the success or decline of institutions largely depends on how effectively their people are empowered, adding that the Human Resource Department plays a vital role in building and sustaining a professional workforce capable of advancing Parliament’s constitutional mandate.
The statement was shared on the official Facebook page of Parliament of Ghana.
