A public dispute has erupted between the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo , Vincent Ekow Assafuah and the Asokwa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Amoh Kamel, over the cost of borehole drilling projects across local assemblies. The disagreement centres on the average cost incurred by Me
Speaking at a media engagement on Monday, March 30, 2026, Mr. Assafuah claimed that borehole projects are being drilled at an average cost of GH¢100,000, raising questions about potential overvaluation and inefficiencies in public spending.
His comments have sparked debates on social media about infrastructure delivery and fiscal accountability at the local government level.
However, the Asokwa MCE strongly disputed the figure, insisting that his administration has executed borehole projects at approximately GH¢90,000.
“The figures being put out do not reflect the practical realities of borehole drilling. In Asokwa, we have executed these projects at around GH¢90,000, so to say it is GH¢100,000 is inaccurate,” he said.
