Bono Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kofi Ofosu Boateng, has raised concerns over the handling of party registration materials in the Dormaa Central Constituency, stating that constituency executives have no authority to keep polling station registers meant for polling station executives.
He explained that the NPP rolled out a nationwide membership registration and renewal exercise from March 1 to March 30, 2026, aimed at expanding the party’s base and updating its membership records.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Kwasi Kyei Baffour (KKB) on ‘Adea Akye Abia’ morning show at Sompa FM Sunyani, Mr. Ofosu Boateng noted that the registration drive forms part of the party’s routine mobilization efforts carried out after every general election to strengthen its structures and attract new members.
He revealed that preparations for the exercise began on August 1, 2025, when polling station registers were produced and distributed to all constituencies across the Bono Region.
“We brought the polling station registers and sent them across all the constituencies in the Bono Region. Since the forms arrived, we have ensured that each constituency received its share based on the number of polling stations they have,” he said.
He further indicated that the party always puts in place clear regulations whenever such exercises are conducted to help prevent misunderstandings and ensure transparency.
Mr. Ofosu Boateng stressed that the registers are meant to be used by polling station executives who oversee the registration process at the grassroots level.
“It is not the decision of the constituency executives to keep the registers. These materials are supposed to be given to the polling station executives to work with during the exercise,” he emphasized.
The Bono Regional NPP Secretary added that feedback from several constituency secretaries so far suggests the exercise has generally been progressing well across the region.
