Dormaa West MP condemns alleged voting buying in Ayawaso East

Mr Vincent Oppong Asamoah, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa West Constituency of the Bono Region has condemned the alleged vote buying that characterized the just ended parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress in the Ayawaso East constituency over the weekend.
Provisional results released after the close of polls showed Mr Jamal, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, securing 431 votes from the total ballots cast ahead of the March 3 bye-election.
He was closely followed by Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament, Mr Naser Toure, who polled 399 votes.
Mr Mohammed Ramne, the Ayawaso East NDC Constituency Chairman, placed third with 88 votes and Dr Yakubu Azindow obtained 45 votes, while Mr Najib Mohammed Sani recorded one vote.
Speaking on the Monday edition of the Sunyani-based Sompa FM ‘Adea Akye Abia” morning show hosted by Ama Konadu, Mr Asamoah described the allegation as unfortunate, saying that was affront to the NDC pillars of probity and accountability.
She said vote buying was also an electoral fraud that undermined the integrity of the NDC.
