The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe also known as Abronye, has been granted bail by the Accra Circuit Court.
This comes after his lawyers, led by Daniel M. Addo prayed the court to abridge the hearing date from September 19 to Monday (Sept 15) due to his clients health condition.
The accused, who is facing one count of publication of false news and one count of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace was subsequently admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with no justification.
He is to report to the police once every week.
The case has been adjourned to October 7, 2025.
Allegation
Abronye has been accused of stating on a television platform that all strategic meetings conducted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Akwatia had the Inspector General of Police (IGP in attendance.
Again, the Bono Regional Chairman is alleged to have stated that the current IGP, Tetteh Yohuno, is the “most corrupt” IGP in the country’s history.
He has however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
