In a bid to revive and strengthen Ghana’s cultural heritage among young learners, the Homase Circuit cultural in collaboration with Amansie Central Educational Directorate in the District of the Ashanti Region has organized a cultural display involving over 25 basic schools at Homase.
The event, held at Homase, brought together pupils to showcase various aspects of Ghanaian culture through performances, language, and art. The goal, according to organizers, is to instill cultural values in children at an early age.
Speaking to Sompa News, the Chairman of the Circuit Cultural Organizing Committee, Mr. Samuel Adoko Aselisiyah, said the initiative is aimed at helping pupils understand and appreciate their roots.
“We want the children to know their culture so that when they grow up, they will also teach their children. If we don’t teach them now, our culture will die,” Mr. Samuel Adoko Aselisiyah stated.
He revealed that the cultural display featured a wide range of activities including choreography, poetry recitals, traditional drumming and dancing, local language presentations, and the meaning of proverbs. Pupils were also given the platform to display their God-given talents.
Meanwhile Bekwai Adontenhene, Nana Opoku Ababio, who graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, commended the Directorate for the initiative. He stressed that it is time for teachers and parents to take cultural education seriously.

“It is about time teachers and parents teach their children how to practice good and quality culture. We shouldn’t abandon our culture and take someone else’s. We must cherish our own,” Nana Opoku Ababio said.
He explained that culture goes beyond drumming and dancing, noting that it includes language, dressing, food, and values.
“Culture consists of our language, our dressing, and the food we eat. If we lose these, we lose our identity as a people,” the Adontenhene added.
