The Central University Law School has organized a colloquium on legal education reform aimed at discussing the implementation of the Legal Education Act, 2026 (Act 1170), institutional reforms, accreditation processes, and the future of legal training in Ghana.
The event brought together legal practitioners, academics, policymakers, and students to examine strategies for strengthening legal education and ensuring that future lawyers are adequately prepared to meet the evolving demands of the profession.
Speaking at the colloquium, Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie emphasized the need to train lawyers who embody credibility, competence, integrity, and professionalism.
He noted that the reforms introduced under the Legal Education Act are intended to expand opportunities for legal education, enhance the quality of training, promote research and scholarship, and align Ghana's legal education system with international standards.
The Chief Justice further highlighted the government's commitment to improving access to legal education while maintaining rigorous academic and professional standards.
He stressed that the reforms will help develop a new generation of legal professionals capable of contributing meaningfully to national development, the administration of justice, and the rule of law.
