The District Chief Executive of Atwima Mponua, in the Ashanti region Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, has cut sod for the construction of a 24-hour model market in Nyinahin, marking the first of its kind in the Ashanti Region.
The ceremony, held in Nyinahin today, brought together district officials, traditional leaders, traders, and residents. The project will include 300 stores, a pharmacy, police station, Bank, restaurant, KG unit, and washroom facilities, with completion set for within one year.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Issahak said the market is designed to operate around the clock, giving traders flexibility and allowing the district to tap into growing demand for goods and services beyond normal working hours.
“The market is to boost business in the area. It will create a lot of employment for our youth and also bring in more revenue to the assembly for development,” he stated.
The facility will include modern stalls, sanitation units, security provisions, and designated spaces for perishable and non-perishable goods.
According to the DCE, this will address congestion, improve hygiene, and provide a safer environment for traders and customers.
The 24-hour model aligns with the government’s push to stimulate a round-the-clock economy, particularly in district capitals with strong commercial activity.
Hon. Issahak noted that once completed, the market is expected to accommodate over 500 traders and generate consistent revenue to fund other development projects in the district.
