Many Ghanaian entrepreneurs have over the years struggled to sustain their businesses, a situation that most individuals hold divergent views as to reason behind such occurrences.
Speaking on the challenges facing local enterprises, Prof. Samuel Amoa Mensa, CEO of Sawbo Access Consultancy has noted that while Ghana has no shortage of entrepreneurial ideas and startups, a significant number fail to survive beyond the early stages.
He attributed the high rate of business fade out in the country to behavioural practice that undermine attitude, skill and knowledge.
Prof. Mensa said this at a workshop organized for corporate individuals and students by the Scientific and Animation without Borders, dubbed, "Building your Business from Local Manufacturer to Global Marketer," held in Cape Coast on Friday.

He opined that “most Ghanaian entrepreneurs fade out not because of lack of ideas, but because of attitudinal deficiency,” adding that “Issues such as poor work ethics, resistance to learning, lack of customer focus, and a tendency of abnormal expenditure plays a critical role in the fade out of Ghanaian startups."
He noted that building a sustainable business requires consistency, adaptability, and a willingness to research. He urged aspiring and existing entrepreneurs to invest in personal development alongside their business operations.
He also called on entrepreneurs to place greater emphasis on accountability for their businesses to thrive.
Dr. Frances Yayra Sefenu, a facilitator for the workshop and Lecturer at the Cape Coast Technical University with the Department of Fashion, stressed that vocational acquisition builds the youth to become self-reliant and poses positive development for the country.
She continued that entrepreneurship strengthens the bilateral and multilateral relationship due to the import and export in trades.
Some participants after the program shared their excitement and advised women in marriage not to depend solely on their husbands but should strive to venture into business to equally support their families.
