The District Chief Executive of Atwima Mponua, Hon. Ibrahim Issahak, has announced a full support initiative to support outstanding students who excel in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Speaking during a tour to some BECE centres in the district, Hon. Issahak assured candidates that the assembly will fully support the education of the top-performing students through senior high school and beyond.
“When the assembly supports the best students, I will personally use part of my salary to support the rest who also perform well, ”he pledged, demonstrating his personal commitment to education in the district.

The DCE encouraged candidates to remain focused and take full advantage of the government’s Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy. “If you pass your exams, you are guaranteed free SHS. That is a golden opportunity don’t waste it,”he advised.
This year, over 3,000 candidates are sitting for the BECE across various centres in Atwima Mponua. During his visit, Hon. Issahak observed that students appeared happy and confident in the examination halls, attributing it to the calm and orderly environment created by supervisors and invigilators.
To ensure the wellbeing of candidates, health personnel have been deployed to all examination centres to provide immediate medical attention to any student with health challenges during the exams.

The DCE commended invigilators and supervisors for maintaining discipline and professionalism throughout the process. As a gesture of appreciation, he donated food items to support them as they carry out their duties.
He also issued a strong warning against examination malpractice, stressing that cheating only destroys a student’s future and undermines the credibility of the education system.
“Success should come through hard work and integrity. Any shortcut will only harm you in the long run,”he cautioned both teachers and students.
Hon. Issahak reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to investing in education as the foundation for community development, and urged parents and teachers to continue guiding and supporting candidates throughout the examination period.
The BECE remains a key milestone for Junior High School students in Ghana, determining their placement into senior high schools, technical institutes, and vocational training centres.
