Assembly says a pandemonium which erupted in the Kyeremasu Township in the Municipality has since left many in depressed condition.

Irate youth in the area in the early hours of Tuesday April 14, 2026 hit the street of the Kyeremasu Township to register their displeasure over the killing a young man, a native of the town.

Unconfirmed reports revealed that the anti-galamsey taskforce set up by the Dormaa Traditional Council gunned down the deceased at an illegal

mining site at Akontanim in the municipality.

The aggrieved youth who wore red armbands and head gears and wielded offensive instruments barricaded the major roads in the area,

however the swift intervention of the police and military saved the situation.

Calm has since returned to the township.

Speaking to Ama Konadu on the Wednesday edition of the Sunyani- based Sompa FM "Ade Akye Abia" morning show, Mr Siaw said police

were investigating the incident.
