Elder Michael Yeboah Danso, an Elder of the Yawhima Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church in the Sunyani Municipality has defended the government, saying that the nation cannot be blamed for the rising unemployment situation.
He said unemployment was now a global phenomenon that required a collective approach in addressing the canker through job creation opportunities.
Elder Danso therefore urged higher educational institutions to shift from theory-based to practical-based learning.
He emphasised that until educational institutions prioritized practical above theoretical learning, it would be difficult for the nation to tackle the growing unemployment rate.
“Employment is a global phenomenon and we must stop blaming the government and contribute our quota to addressing it”, the church told Sompa FM in an interview at Yawhima saying that the government alone could not shoulder the responsibility of addressing the challenge.
