Sheikh Moro Awudu, Imam of Benue Nkwanta, has called on Muslims to uphold the spiritual discipline and lessons acquired during Ramadan even after the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
Speaking with Kwasi Kyei Baffour (KKB) on ‘Adea Akye Abia’ morning show at Sompa FM-Sunyani, during Eid al-Fitr festivities, the Imam emphasized that the end of the holy month should not mark a return to old habits but rather a continuation of righteous living.
“Whatever we learned this month should be put into practice in the months ahead. So, we should ask Allah to help us hold onto our faith,” he advised.
Sheikh Awudu cautioned against reverting to sinful behavior after Ramadan, stressing that doing so undermines the essence of the prayers, fasting, and sacrifices observed during the period.
“But when you go back into your sins, then you shouldn’t have done the prayers at all,” he stated.
He further encouraged Muslims to use Eid as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and supplication, urging them to remain thankful to Allah not only in public gatherings but also in private moments.
“We should go and give thanks to Allah. Even when sitting alone, try as much as possible to continue to thank Him. Use this day to pray for your family, yourself, and everyone,” he added.
Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the month-long Ramadan fast, is celebrated by Muslims worldwide with prayers, charity, and communal gatherings.
The occasion also serves as a reminder of the values of sacrifice, self-discipline, and devotion to Allah.
Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr, one of the most significant celebrations in Islam Today, March 20, 2026.
