The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals in the Eastern Region for allegedly possessing a large quantity of counterfeit United States currency.
In a press release issued by the Eastern Regional Police Command on March 16, 2026, authorities said the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation by the Odumase-Krobo District Police at a hideout in Larsi, near Odumase-Krobo.
The suspects have been identified as Ebenezer Narh-Tsu, 20; George Attor, 48; and Bishop Robert Olertey, 54.
Police say the trio was found in possession of 105 bundles of forged US dollar notes in $100 denominations. The fake currency had reportedly been hidden in a student’s trunk.

According to the statement, one of the suspects, Bishop Robert Olertey, allegedly attempted to bribe arresting officers with GH¢20,000.
The officers rejected the offer and proceeded with the arrest, subsequently handing the suspects over to the Akomsombo Divisional CID for further investigations.
On March 13, 2026, Narh-Tsu was arraigned before the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court and granted bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties.
As part of his bail conditions, he is required to report to the police every Monday for two weeks to assist with ongoing investigations.
The two other suspects have also been granted police enquiry bail as investigations continue.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious financial activities, warning that counterfeit currency circulation poses significant risks of financial loss to individuals and businesses.
The case remains under active investigation.
