Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) has carried out one of the major decongestion exercise in it's city.
The exercise held on Monday, 2nd, March, 2026, witnessed a massive decongestion exercise at major principal streets of Cape Coast as part of efforts to improve traffic flow, ensure public safety, and promote orderly trading.

The exercise, which focused on traders operating along road lanes and pedestrian walkways and illegal parking of vehicles (spoilt cars and tricycles) aimed at clearing obstructions that pose risk to both motorists and pedestrians.
Thanks to the help of the Police, Metro Environmental Department and the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Metro NADMO Directorate, along with City Guard officers and Community Police Officials all under the Cape Coast Metropolis.
The hotspot communities which saw the decongestion exercise included the Cape Coast Castle enclave, Anaafo, Ntsin, Ashanti Road and Brofoyedur.

Emmanuel Forson, the Environmental Health Analysis for CCMA in an engagement with Sompa TV's Eric Annan, after the exercise explained that the decongestion was necessary to reduce congestion, prevent accidents, and enhance sanitation at the various areas.
He emphasized that the action was not intended to punish traders but to restore order and enforce city by-laws.
The CCMA Environmental Health Analysis also assured that, the Assembly has scheduled the exercise for the whole week just to see the end of such disorder in the Metropolitan.
"We are enforced to carry this exercise in other to ensure proper road usage and sanitation been prioritize in the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly"

The Assembly admonished that the exercise is intended to strengthen the vehicular movement , proper sanitation practices and order among the populace.
