Residents of Atimatim New Site in the Afigya Kwabre South Municipality joined the Municipal Assembly today for a massive clean-up exercise aimed at promoting environmental sanitation and public health.
The exercise, which forms part of the government’s nationwide sanitation drive, brought together community members, assembly officials and local leaders to desilt gutters, clear choked drains, and remove heaps of refuse from the area.
Addressing residents during the exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Patricia Pearl Ankrah, urged the public to remain committed to the government’s clean-up initiative and take personal responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.

She emphasized that sanitation is a shared responsibility and called on residents across the municipality to actively participate in future exercises to prevent the outbreak of diseases.
Touching on concerns about abandoned roads in the Atimatim New Site area, the MCE assured residents that the contractor would soon resume work to complete the stalled projects. According to her, the Assembly is engaging the necessary stakeholders to ensure the roads are fixed to improve transportation and ease the challenges faced by residents.

The Afigya Kwabre South Municipal Assembly, she noted, has remained consistent in organizing clean-up exercises since the introduction of the initiative by the National Democratic Congress government under President John Dramani Mahama.
Residents who participated in the exercise expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the initiative and pledged their continued support to maintain cleanliness in the community.
The clean-up campaign forms part of broader efforts to improve sanitation standards and enhance public health within the municipality.
