Two students have been remanded by the Agona Swedru District Court for allegedly assaulting a student of Obrachire Senior High Technical School during an inter-schools sports festival in Agona Swedru.
The suspects, Benedict Appiah and Bilal Mamid, both students of Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS), were arraigned before the District Court, presided over by His Worship Victor Kusi, on Wednesday.
They face provisional charges of conspiracy to commit assault and assault.
Their request for bail was denied, and they have been remanded into police custody to reappear before the court on March 11, 2026.
With regard to a third suspect, John Amo, Citi News understands that preliminary police investigations indicate he was attempting to protect the victim. Although he has not yet been put before the court, he remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, the Central Regional Police Command has directed authorities of Swedru School of Business to produce all other suspects connected to the incident.
