The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Lydia Yaa Donkor, has called for strengthened collaboration between the CID and the Ghana Military Police Command to address the growing complexity of crime in the country.
She made the call during a working visit to the Military Police Command at Burma Camp on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
According to COP Donkor, criminal activities have evolved beyond traditional methods, with a significant rise in cyber-related and technology-driven offences.
She stressed that law enforcement agencies must adapt through continuous capacity building in crime scene management, interviewing techniques, and digital investigations.
“We must continuously upgrade our skills and knowledge to effectively respond to emerging security threats,” she noted, emphasizing the importance of joint training and intelligence sharing.
The Commanding Officer of the Ghana Military Police, Jacqueline Dela Galley, highlighted the increasing cases of impersonation and cybercrime, describing them as major emerging challenges.
She also underscored the need for clearer referral systems when handling cases involving both military personnel and civilians to ensure swift and coordinated responses.
The meeting focused on renewing structured collaboration between the two institutions, with both leaders expressing confidence that stronger engagement would enhance investigations and improve overall law enforcement outcomes.
The renewed partnership is expected to bolster the capacity of both the CID and the Military Police to effectively tackle evolving criminal trends and safeguard national security.
