In the wake of intensifying the activities of the Central Regional Directorate of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for the coming years, the General Manager for ECG in the Central Region, Madam Tamara Asomani-Wiafe, emphasized the need to get the light on for their costumers.
Among the many directives, she touched on the need to recover all "system losses," accumulated over the years at the Electricity Company of Ghana in the region.
Madam Asomani-Wiafe speaking at media soiree, held on February 12, 2026, at the ECG Regional Warehouse in Cape Coast, she stated that "ECG in the Central Region is set to recover GH¢6.105 million from approximately 7,000 customers who have outstanding debts. The amount represents 5.50 GWh of electricity consumed by these customers."

According to the Central Regional ECG General Manager, efforts are underway to recover the outstanding amount, which is part of the company's broader initiative to reduce commercial losses and ensure a sustainable electricity supply chain.
The Electricity Company of Ghana has been intensifying its revenue recovery exercises, including inspections and monitoring to detect and prevent illegal connections.
Report indicates that the Management of ECG in the Central Region in 2025 through its effort, reduced the system losses by inspecting over 8,805 meters on the field where 460 costumers were appended and surcharged. An exercise which aided ECG recovered 1.56GWh amounting to Gh¢4.76million in the region.
Over 12,000 fake meters through the exercise were removed from most non- ECG costumers who were using power freely.
