Okokyeredom Sakyi Arko II, Omanhene of Drobo Traditional Area and Vice President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, has appealed for urgent rehabilitation of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, citing deteriorating infrastructure and inadequate working conditions.
According to the traditional leader, the House of Chiefs is grappling with insufficient office equipment, which is affecting its day-to-day operations.
He noted that the situation has been worsened by a reduction in staff strength, as several workers have retired while others are currently unwell.
“Our staff capacity is not enough to effectively carry out our duties,” he said. “In addition, there are no registrars at the Traditional Council in Sunyani, which is a major challenge to the administration of chieftaincy matters in the region.”
Okokyeredom Sakyi Arko II made these remarks on Monday, February 2, 2026, during an engagement with the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, emphasizing the need for government attention to improve the functioning of traditional institutions in the Bono Region.
Meanwhile, the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, commended the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, for the development initiatives being implemented in the region.
He expressed appreciation for the ministry’s efforts to strengthen local governance and traditional authorities.
The Regional Minister also praised the chiefs in the Bono and Bono East regions for their unity, urging them to remain united to advance development.
“I want to thank the Nananom for their togetherness,” he said. “Let us continue to stand as one so that Bono and Bono East can be strong and better positioned to attract development to our regions.”
