Dormaaman Connect, a civic group representing concerned citizens and indigenes of Dormaa, has issued a strongly worded press statement condemning what it describes as grossly disrespectful and defamatory comments made against Dormaa and its traditional leadership on a radio programme.
According to the statement, the comments were made by Mr. Kwame Nkrumah Tikesee, a presenter with Okay FM, a subsidiary of the Despite Media Group, during the morning show “Adee Akye Abia” aired on December 17, 2025.
The group said the remarks followed the rejection of a mediation report by the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, after a process led by the Nayiri and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on December 16, 2025.
Dormaaman Connect described the language used on the programme as insulting, culturally offensive and defamatory, arguing that it went beyond the bounds of responsible journalism and free speech.
The group stated that the comments did not only target the Dormaahene but also insulted the dignity of the entire people of Dormaa.
In a list of demands, Dormaaman Connect called for an immediate retraction of the comments and an unqualified public apology from Mr. Nkrumah within 72 hours, to be delivered on the same programme and platform.
The group also demanded a formal corporate apology from the Despite Media Group, citing a failure of editorial control.
Additionally, the group announced it would formally petition the National Communications Authority (NCA) to investigate the broadcast for breaches of ethical and professional broadcasting standards and to apply appropriate sanctions as a deterrent.
The statement further appealed to the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama to speak against what it described as growing media disrespect toward traditional leadership.
As a traditional sanction, Dormaaman Connect declared Mr. Nkrumah persona non grata on all Dormaa lands until a satisfactory apology is rendered.
The statement was signed by the founder of Dormaaman Connect and issued on December 18, 2025.
