Fire has gutted parts of the Kwapong Nursing Training College in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region.

Students were seen rushing to safety as firefighters from the Kukuom and Goaso Fire Stations in the Ahafo Region of the Ghana National Fire Service worked to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but authorities say investigations are underway to determine what triggered the incident.
The incident has created panic among students and staff, prompting an emergency response from local security and fire officials.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the distress call was received at 7:12 a.m., and the Kukuom fire crew arrived at the scene at 7:30 a.m. Reinforcement from the Goaso Municipal Fire Station later joined, and the combined efforts of the two teams brought the blaze under control by 8:45 a.m. It was completely extinguished at 10:26 a.m.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire began in one of the rooms on the first floor of a one-storey dormitory block before spreading to six other rooms. The incident destroyed the roof, ceiling, personal belongings, books, beds, and bedding. Two fire extinguishers on the affected floor also exploded during the fire.

No casualties were recorded, and investigations are ongoing to determine the actual cause of the blaze.
