The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin has opine on the unethical practices often witnesses among some government health practitioners in the country.
According to the Minister, it has surfaced that some medical professionals exploit their positions in government hospitals to solicit clients for their private practices.
An act he shared, has raised concerns about the integrity of healthcare services in public facilities. "We do hear of some health professionals doing business internally in our healthcare system," the Minister chide.
He made this assertion at the 48th annual conference and continuing professional education programme of the Association Of Health Service Administrators Ghana (AHSAG) in Cape Coast on Wednesday, 29th October, 2025.
The event which garnered astute personalities from across the country, was held under the theme "optimizing internal resources mobilization for infrastructure and equipment management; the position of the health service administrator."
The Minister edged the medical practitioners to exercise the culture of maintenance whiles the government is making consented effort to "retool" the health sector in the country.
At the event was Dr. Ebo Hammond, Hospital Administrator of the Ghana Health Service who represented Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, the Acting Director General of the Ghana Health Service, who highlighted that the efficient usage of the infrastructure and equipment in the health sector, the role of the administrators can't be "overlooked".
He assured members of Ghana Health Service who are due for appointment saying, "it will be than sooner than later."
Meanwhile the President of AHSAG, Rev. Ezekiel Amadu Dabiri, charged that government place immediate ban on all small scale mining being legal or illegal because "the effect on our resources is enormous."
He again addressed that external resources have not been enough over the years, leaving behind pressure on the internally generated funds at respective health sectors.
