A 24-year-old 'Pragyia' (tricycle) rider has been shot dead at Sofokyere, a suburb of Berekum in the Bono Region.
Sompa FM gathered that the incident happened around 1230 hours Friday September 12, 2025 and the body of Bernard, popularly known as 'critical' has since been deposited at the Berekum Holy Family Catholic Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
Mr Isaac Afful, the Assembly Member of the Sofokyere Electoral Area in the Berekum Municipality who confirmed the incident told the media that the deceased a native of Biadan, was shot dead by some attackers.
He said the deceased picked his attackers with his tricycle with registration number M-25-BR (314) and upon reaching their destination, they shot him and fled.
Some residents heard the gunshot and rushed to the scene to find the lifeless body of the deceased with severe head injury, Mr Afful explained.
He said the police were informed, worrying that attacks on Pragyia riders in the municipality was becoming alarming.
"This is the third time we have recorded such incident", he stated and called on th police to beef up personnel visibility and intensified night patrols in the neighbourhoods.
In another interview, Mr Ramson Appiah, the Chairman of the National Union of Tricycles of Ghana (NUTOG) expressed concern about the recurring attacks on t riders and called for expeditious police investigations to apprehend and prosecute the suspects.
