The Bono Regional Police Command says it has commenced investigations into the murder of a 15-year-old boy at an illegal mining site at Amasu in the Dormaa Municipality of the Region.
The police retrieved the body of Issahaku Ansu at the site on Sunday August 31. 2025 with multiples of gunshot wounds at the back and blood stains around the nostrils.
The body had since been deposited at the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
A statement issued and signed by the Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer and copied to Sompa FM in Sunyani said the deceased wore a wine-coloured boxer short soaked in blood.
It said preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was shot to death, saying others who were engaging in the illegal mining activities also fled when they heard the gunshot.
The statement urged the residents of the area to remain calm, assuring that efforts were being made to apprehend the perpetrators to face the law.
