The leadership of the Saviour Church of Ghana has begun arrangements for a mass burial for 16 members of the Church’s Youth Ministry who died in an accident on the Atwedie stretch of the Kumasi-Accra highway.
Four other victims are currently receiving treatment at the Juaso Government Hospital, with the Church leadership indicating that they are responding well.
The accident occurred while the victims were returning from the Church’s annual activity in the Eastern Region, Obogu, in the Asante Akyem South Municipality on Monday, July 28.
The incident, which occurred around 2:30 p.m., involved a collision between a vehicle carrying the church members and a fuel tanker coming from the opposite direction.

The incident has plunged the Obogu community and members of the Church into a state of shock and mourning, leaving affected families devastated.
In an interview with Sompa, the Deputy Secretary of the Saviour Church of Ghana, Kwabena Owusu, said, “I’m sad to announce the death of 16 youth of Obogu who were members of the Saviour Church of Ghana.
“We attended a youth programme at our national headquarters, and unfortunately, one of our vehicles was involved in a fatal accident.
This caused the death of our members. We have arranged with the leadership of the church to liaise with the family to set up a date to have a mass burial for all of them.
“Right now, four of the survivors are responding to treatment at the Juaso government hospital. I have been there personally, and they are responding to treatment.”
