Since teachers play a vital role in shaping young minds and unearthing future leaders, have been charged to exercise regularly to always stay healthy for their students and families.
By adopting healthy living, teachers have been inspired to consider the importance of exercising frequently, as regular training regime seeks to enhance teachers mental well-being, improve physical health, and increase productivity.
Ms. Esther Otoo, Chairperson for the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Moree Local in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District in the Central Region, made the passionate appeal after a health walk organized for teachers in the locality on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha on Friday.
The health walk which commenced from Moree-White Man through to Aggrey Memorial Senior High School, saw male and female teachers, as well as headteachers from various public schools within the locality, turnout for the fun-filled health activity.
Speaking to Sompa TV's Eric Annan, the Moree Local Chairperson for GNAT in the AAK District, eulogized teachers to be dying more often from classroom stress, over the tedious workload they mostly encounter.
For an improved education system with healthy teaching stuff, Ms. Otoo advocated the need for teachers in Ghana to engage in more of such regular cooperate health activities to help release stress and gain more energy to stay fit and productive for the work ahead.
The AAK District Chairman for GNAT, Mr. Vincent Quainoo, upon gracing the occasion, reiterated the importance in organizing such health walk as teachers, since a sound mind lives in a healthy body. Thus, the need as teachers in the Moree Local to gain a sound mind to effectively teach their students.
Other teachers in expressing excitement towards the health walk, beseeched the AAK District and Central Regional Directors of Education to have such activity organized at least twice every year to have teachers in the District and Region stay much stronger for improved education delivery.
