Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has revealed that President John Dramani Mahama is set to launch three groundbreaking initiatives this week, strategically designed to stimulate economic growth and empower the youth.
The programmes, slated for launch this week, include the Adwumawura initiative, which aims to nurture 10,000 young entrepreneurs, commencing today, Monday, April 28.
Kwakye Ofosu aptly puts it, "It is going to be an all-action display by President Mahama this week as he launches the following programmes: Adwumawura, which targets 10,000 young business owners, on Monday; the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares) on Tuesday, meticulously crafted to provide solace to individuals grappling with chronic diseases; and the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) on Wednesday, poised to equip tens of thousands of youth with diverse artisanal skills."
This announcement follows closely on the heels of President Mahama's recent inauguration of the One Million Coders Programme, a visionary initiative geared towards promoting digital literacy and skills development in Ghana.
At the launch, President Mahama underscored that the programme transcends a mere campaign promise, instead serving as a cornerstone of the Reset Ghana Agenda, designed to empower Ghanaians with digital acumen indispensable for 21st-century life and work.
"We are not merely launching a program we are laying the foundation to a new economy. We are saying to our youth, to our communities, to the continent, and to the world: the future is here, and we will be part of shaping it," President Mahama declared, highlighting the vast potential of the global Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) market, valued at $410 billion and projected to surge to nearly $490 billion by 2029.
Moreover, the President emphasized the imperative of digital transformation, stressing that "it must not leave anyone behind." The One Million Coders Programme is anticipated to catalyze job creation, economic growth, entrepreneurship, innovation, and education, while fostering lifelong learning and inclusion.
These forthcoming launches underscore President Mahama's unwavering commitment to implementing his vision for Ghana's economic resurgence and development, with a pronounced focus on empowering the youth and enhancing the welfare of citizens.
