More than 100 persons living with hernia, lipomas and breast lump conditions are presently undergoing free surgeries at the Rafchik hospital at Abesim, near Sunyani.
The surgeries been undertaking by specialists at the health facility in inline with a health outreach programme being organised by the hospital in collaboration with the Bono regional office of the National Health Authority.

Mr Seid Mubarak, the Sunyani East Member of Parliament is sponsoring the 10-day health outreach programme, with health professionals moving from community to community for the screening exercise.
During a visit to the Rafchik hospital, Dr Luis Anto, the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital told Sompa FM that most of the beneficiaries with hernia had successfully undergone the surgeries and were recuperating.

He advised those with the condition to visit the facility, saying that medicine had improved and with available technology there was no need for surgery to scare anybody.
Dr Philip Anokye, a surgeon and clinical coordinator at the Chiraa Government Hospital leading the surgeries told Sompa FM noted that societal stigmatization and high cost of medical bills deter mostly persons, especially women with
hernia to open up for surgeries.
He said the outreach offered enormous opportunity for those living with the condition, urging them to avail themselves for the surgery before their conditions worsened.
Madam Brakisa Agyeman, the Nurse in-charge at the Rafchik Hospital advised those who were preparing for the surgeries to remain calm as there was no cause for alarm.
Mad Comfort Tutuwaa, a 73-year-old beneficiary of the surgery commended the MP and the hospital management for the opportunity.
